Jaci Velasquez Captures Second Billboard Latin Music Award

Multi-award-winning and platinum-selling artist Jaci Velasquez took home her second Billboard Latin Music Award recently. Velasquez’ fourth Spanish-language album, Milagro, captured the Billboard Award for “Latin Christian/Gospel Album of the Year” at the Billboard Latin Music Awards on April 29th.
Velasquez has experienced great success as both a Christian and Latin performer, with RIAA-certified Platinum albums in both genres, and multiple awards for both her English and Spanish language projects. In addition to five Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards for her English projects, the acclaimed female vocalist has received two “Spanish Language Album of the Year” Doves, including one in 2003 for Milagro, along with two GRAMMY Award nominations for her Latin performances, a Latin Grammy nomination, and numerous other accolades from the Latin industry.
The Latin Billboard Music Awards is Latin music’s most prestigious and longest-running awards show, broadcast live for the first time this year on April 29th from the Miami Arena by the Telemundo International television network. The only ceremony whose winners are based on radio and retail chart performances, the Billboard Awards’ finalists are chosen solely based on their performances on Billboard Magazine’s “Hot Latin Tracks” and “Top Latin Albums” charts. Velasquez won the award out of a field of nominees which included Salvador (Word-Curb/Warner Bros.), Samuel Hernandez (SH) and Jhonny Rafael (Univision/UG).
