IndieHeaven.com Announces 2nd Annual CIA SUMMIT
IndieHeaven.com, the leading Christian independent artist organization is excited to announce their 2nd annual “Christian Indie Alliance Momentum” Awards, to be handed out at their upcoming CIA SUMMIT (www.ciasummit.com) conference March 29-April 1, 2007 in Franklin, TN.
2/18/7 Artist Ovation Talent Competition
Word Label Group is partnering with the Christian Festival Association (CFA) and Artist Ovation to launch a nationwide talent search competition beginning this week. The winner of Artist Ovation competition will receive an artist development agreement with a Word Label Group imprint. Independent artists from across the U.S. are required to enter the contest online at www.artistovation.com. Following submissions online, artists will perform before a panel of music professionals at one of 16 participating CFA summer festivals located throughout the country (full list provided below). At the conclusion of regional events, competition finalist will be chosen to perform at a national event to be held in Nashville where the winning band will be honored with an artist development agreement and a Word Label Group prize package, and named the 2007 Artist Ovation competition winner.
2/8/7 Barry Blair Launches Tonecrash Records
Music Industry veteran, Barry Blair, announces the launch of Tonecrash Records, a ministry focused label with the goal of developing and building young independent artists. With 16 years of history in the Christian music industry, Blair has won Dove Awards, received Grammy nominations and been a part of several number 1 radio singles as an artist, producer, and songwriter. As a founding member of the band Audio Adrenaline, Blair performed on and co-wrote many of the band’s early radio singles, including the #1 song of the 1990’s, “Big House”, and the Grammy nominated album “Bloom”. Blair also played an integral part in the early success of the band Bleach by introducing the band to Forefront Records in 1996, and producing the band’s number 1 radio single “Super Good Feeling” and “Modern Rock Song of the Year” Dove winner “Epidermis Girl.” In recent years, Blair has continued to work as a record producer and session guitarist. He has produced records for many up-and-coming independent bands including eight rock singles from independent bands that have landed on Radio and Records Magazine’s Christian Rock airplay charts.
2/6/7 KOCH Records Forms Christian Division
Bob Frank, President of KOCH Records, announced today the formation of a Christian music division. Kosmos Records, a new imprint directed by Barry Landis, President and CEO of Landis Entertainment & Media Partners, will release three to four new projects each year and will be based in Nashville.
Barry Landis is responsible for some of the world’s greatest Christian, Gospel and Country music, and has been involved in the careers of some of the biggest names in the genre, from triple platinum selling P.O.D. and 143/David Foster’s Plus One while he was General Manager at Atlantic’s Christian unit, to early successes with Donnie McClurkin, Take 6 and The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir while at Warner Alliance. Before he formed his own company, Landis was President of Word Records, one of the three largest Christian music companies in the world. While at Word, he grew the company in profitability each year, signed the 2004 New Artist of the Year (Building 429) and was responsible for the resurrection of the career of country music superstar, Randy Travis, with the hit, “Three Wooden Crosses,” which in 2003 won the award for Song of the Year from both the Country Music Association as well as the Academy of Country Music. He has more than 50 #1 songs to his credit and his marketing plans have been responsible for the sale of more than 60 million records. Worship Leader Magazine and Christian Radio/Retail Weekly Magazine list him as one of the most influential voices in Christian music.
2/2/7 Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker Among Gospel Icons Teaming With NFL’s Elite For All-Star Concert Super Bowl XLI Weekend In Miami
Atlanta-based entertainment production company, Results, Inc. today announced the confirmation of comedian Cedric The Entertainer as co-host of the 8th Annual Super Bowl Gospel Celebration. Premiering on Gospel Music Channel, the nation’s first 24-hour television network dedicated to all styles of gospel music, Saturday, February 3, 2007 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT., the show features Grammy award-winning artists including Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker and the legendary Patti LaBelle. Additionally, popular Gospel artists J Moss, Tye Tribbett, Jaci Velasquez and a host of the NFL’s top players are also scheduled to appear. Results, Inc. president, Melanie Few, the event’s founder and executive producer, made the announcement. Additionally, Few announced that Kyle Bowser, veteran producer of television and live events will serve as an Executive Producer of this year’s event. Plans for unveiling a new look for the concert, which maintains its distinguished tradition as the first and only Gospel music event sanctioned for Super Bowl weekend by the National Football League (NFL) were also announced.

2/1/7 Portable Sounds Tour
Fans will get a live taste of the February 20th release from TobyMac on the upcoming “Portable Sounds” tour starting March 15, 2007. The upcoming tour will also be featuring the hot line-up of Thousand Foot Krutch, Building 429, and Family Force 5. With all three acts releasing new music in 2007, the “Portable Sounds” tour will bring a fresh new sound to the 19-city tour (dates below). “The ‘Portable Sounds’ tour is coming to your town with a diverse set-up of hip-hop, rock and funk,” shares TobyMac. “My hope for this tour is that we ignite a party that causes people to think.”
2/1/7 Matt Brouwer Signs with TAG Artist Group
TAG Artist Group has announced the signing of former Reunion Records artist Matt Brouwer to a long-term distribution agreement. Brouwer’s latest release, The B-Sides Recording Vol.1, will be in stores April 3rd.
