Hero Coming Home Garners Recognition During Pentagon Prayer Breakfast

A Nashville, Tennessee group of noted songwriters (Dave Clark, Jimmy Fortune and Bria Slaughter) have written a song and produced a touching video that was played during the Pentagon National Prayer Breakfast on May 26, 2010 in Washington, DC. The featured song is entitled, “Hero Coming Home,” and depicts the lives of soldiers and the impact on their families. The video showcases true military families and concludes with moving footage of soldiers returning home from war. Clark, Fortune and Slaughter traveled to the Pentagon where the video was recognized by the Pentagon Chaplain (COL) Daniel J. Minjares and played for a room full of dignitaries.
Chaplain Minjares introduced the video by saying, “I have watched this video a dozen times now and still cannot hardly get through it. It is very, very moving!”
Dave Clark added, “”I have never been able to separate my patriotism from the indebtedness to our military. For almost every soldier we send, there is a family who waits. We wanted to do something to honor them as well.”
Jimmy Fortune continued, “The trip to the Pentagon for the Prayer Breakfast was one of the highlights of my career. It was heart-warming to feel the spirit that morning, to know that people care enough to pray for our country. It was an honor to be a part of that and to share it with friends.”
Bria Slaughter concluded, “I don’t think I truly ever realized the magnitude of sacrifice that military families make until my children were old enough to realize there was a missing piece in our family. I wanted to do something for them that they could look back on and see that for every birthday, soccer game or goodnight kiss their dad missed, it didn’t go unnoticed.”
“Hero Coming Home” is included in the brand new Lillenas release We Hold These Truths. The powerful 15 minute musical is a patriotic celebration of faith for choirs around the country to honor service men and women any day of the year.
