Gotee Records’ 2007 proves to be a much-anticipated year of releases with pop-punk band Relient K and rapper extraordinaire John Reuben leading the pack. Also coming in the early new year is a re-release “Diamond Edition” from crunk rockers Family Force 5, as well as a sophomore offering from sister label Mono-vs-Stereo’s heavy rock band The Showdown.
John Reuben’s Word Of Mouth is due out February 6th. With his recent 2005 The Boy VS The Cynic, Reuben toured extensively including a 30–city nationwide stint with Pillar and Thousand Foot Crutch, as well as dates with Superchick and Sanctus Real. Fans can anticipate another 40-city run in support of the upcoming Word Of Mouth this spring. With five albums to his credit and sales of over 200,000 albums, John Reuben has garnered attention of new and long-time fans everywhere. In early 2006 he and his brother produced a 9-minute “pilot” using the resources from his already established career to create an exaggerated alter-ego. The clip, a mockumentary styled piece that recalls classic satires like “Waiting For Guffman”, found a large audience quickly, amassing over 175,000 views on Youtube.com and setting the stage for future clips.
Relient K’s Five Score And Seven Years Ago, the band’s follow up to their third consecutive Gold album mmhmm, streets on March 6th on Gotee/Capitol. Sneak peaks of the album, produced by Howard Benson (Less Than Jake, My Chemical Romance, the All-American Rejects), are available online with the first single “Must Have Done Something Right” available at all digital retailers, as well as a bonus track “Fallen Man” (not on forthcoming album) available as an MP3 file on the band’s website —www.relientk.com. 2004’s mmhmm, Relient K’s first joint Gotee Records/Capitol release, debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200 and at #1 on the internet chart that year. Praised by Alternative Press as “one of the best pop-punk releases of the year,” mmhmm touted the Top 20 singles “Be My Escape” and “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” and put the band on the road non-stop, including tours with Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, MXPX and a main stage slot on the 2005 Vans Warped Tour. The band also garnered appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” as well as “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
The Showdown’s Temptation Come My Way, produced by Paul Ebersold (Three Doors Down, Saliva), streets February 20th. These heavy metal rockers will tour their sophomore release in Europe this January and February with Norma Jean, He Is Legend, and label mates Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Past tours have taken them out on the road with acts like Flyleaf and Blindside.
Family Force 5’s Diamond Edition releases March 20th and will feature 4 brand new songs added to the original 2005 Maverick/Gotee debut Business Up Front, Party In The Back. The band, who performed as part of this year’s Journeys Backyard BBQ Tour and Van’s Warped Tour, is slated to go on the road with Disciple in February and TobyMac in March. Family Force 5 has seen an onslaught of media exposure including performances on CBS TV’s The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, and 2 performances on DIRECTV’s CD USA, as well as music video exposure on MTVU.com. Family Force 5 nabbed a #1 spot on both R&R’s Christian Rock chart, as well as the Christian Radio Weekly Rock chart with their radio single “Replace Me.”
