GOTEE CLAIMS SEVEN DOVE NODS

Gotee Records, a label started by dc talk’s Toby McKeehan, earned seven
nominations today for the 32nd Annual Dove Awards. Among the artists recognized were Jennifer Knapp, John Reuben, The
Katinas, GRITS, Knowdaverbs and Relient K. Gotee President Joey Elwood says, “Our goal is to sign artists who impact young
minds in the musical genres they care most about. I think these nominations perfectly reflect the very reason why Gotee was
started.”
Knapp, winner of the 1999 Dove Award for Best New Artist, is up for this year’s Rock Recorded Song for “Into You.” Also up for
the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album (Lay It Down), Knapp is headlining the Back Forty Tour this spring and
has been chosen to perform at the June 23rd Billy Graham Crusade in Louisville, Ky.
With two Dove nods, John Reuben leads the roster of all three nominated hip-hop artists managed by Jason King of KINGmgmt,
Reuben’s single “Do Not” held the No. 1 position on The PAJ’s Rhythmic Chart for 18 consecutive weeks. In the
Rap/Hip-Hop/Dance Album category, Reuben’s Are We There Yet? will compete against label-mate Knowdaverbs’ The Action
Figure, among others. This is Knowdaverbs’ second Dove Award nomination. In the Rap/Hip-Hop/Dance Recorded Song
category, Reuben’s single, “Do Not” will face-off against GRITS’ “Ima Showem.” Winners in 1999 for Rap/Hip-Hop Recorded
Song, GRITS is gearing up for the mainstream (Palm/Ruff Nation) midyear release of their critically acclaimed album
Grammatical Revolution…. “We are really proud of our artists and hope that this is the beginning of a blessed year,” King says.
The Katinas, noted for leading praise & worship at Promise Keepers events, received their fifth Dove nomination this year in the
Urban Recorded Song category for “There You Are.” The Katinas will release their sophomore album, Destiny, on May 8, 2001.

“My Girlfriend.” Directed by Eric Welch, the short form video was also nominated for a Billboard Music Video Award.
The 32nd Annual Dove Awards will be presented in Nashville at The Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday, April 26, 2001.
