Gospel Music Channel (GMC), the nation’s first and only 24-hour music television channel dedicated to all styles of gospel music, will unveil its first branded retail product next week, Tuesday, April 3 with the release of a compilation CD and DVD featuring performances from the network’s popular Gospel Dream series. Gospel Dream is GMC’s nationwide “Idol®”-style singing competition.
To promote and celebrate the release of the CD and DVD, Gospel Music Channel will present with a 20-hour marathon of the entire first season of Gospel Dream this Sunday, April 1 from 10:00 a.m. through 6:00 a.m. ET, as well as through an on-line listening party at www.GospelDreamMusic.com
The Gospel Dream CD and DVD collection, released as part of GMC’s Gospel Dream partnership with Zomba Gospel Group, features the finalists who competed in the first season of Gospel Dream. The ten exciting newcomers — hailing from Michigan, Texas, Georgia, Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, and North Carolina — sang their hearts out over a nine-week period in 2005 and were selected from more than 2,000 hopefuls. Gospel Dream was created by Executive Producer Elvin Ross.
Helmed by award-winning producer Aaron Lindsey, the Gospel Dream CD and DVD feature uplifting interpretations of songs like Martha Munizzi’s “Glorious,” Matt Redman’s “Heart of Worship” and Nichole Nordeman’s “Brave.” The songs demonstrate the staying power of well-loved songs and the talents of these rising vocalists. Another one of the many standouts on the album is the original “Power of the Dream,” which was written and produced by Lindsey and performed by all finalists from season one of Gospel Dream. Gospel Dream season one winner Brian Smith sings two songs on the CD.
