Tonight I went to see !Hero! the rock musical, a precisely choreographed, street-savvy production that brought the gospel message vividly to light. The Ryman was packed with an enthusiastic crowd that often seemed mesmerized by Michael Tait’s gutsy vocals as well as the contemporary retelling of the greatest story on earth. Rebecca St. James, Mark Stewart, T-Bone and more talent than you can shake a stick out rounded out the star-studded cast.

After that it was off to the Word Showcase where the crowd was introduced to debut group Mute Math. This is a band you will definitely be hearing more about, especially around August when their project is due to hit. Mute Math’s loud alternative rocking sound is often set off by surprisingly melodic instrumentals – definitely a group to watch.

Mute Math was followed by Across the Sky doing a little acoustic set in the round (sort of) while the stage was prepared for Building 429. The pop rock Across the Sky selections reminded me of some of my favorite rock bands of the 60’s with a modern twist blended into the mix – quite palatable!

Building 429’s raucous rollicking rock sounds dominated the stage next, followed by Generation J and then the ultimate vocal experience – Nicole C. Mullen.
So much to see; so much to hear, and no way to catch it all! GMA Week is quite an experience.
