Monday has brought cooler weather to Nashville and some cool performances at the “All Access to New Artists” Showcase Luncheon were only appropriate!

Crystal Lewis who introduced the performances reminisced about her first time on the New Artist stage 14 years ago. She gave the new artists this advice. “Life is like driving; if you take your eyes off the road you either crash or get lost. Keep your eyes on Jesus.”
While dining on some yummy chicken at a rather international table (the couple on one side was from the U.K., the two men on the other side were from South Korea), I got to listen to the music of John Fulton, Woody Rock, Daily Planet and Soul Jahz. John Fulton, whose impressive vocals and rockin’ style were a high point of the luncheon, is signed to the mew Crowne Music Group which was co-founded by Gary Chapman.

Speaking of Gary (and how is that for a smooth segue?), I left the luncheon to go directly to the Crowne suite where I spend a delightful half hour with Mr. Chapman. Gary caught me up on his life, walk with Christ, fondness for “The Andy Griffith Show,” new business pursuits, and newest project.

I will be running his comments various places over the next few weeks and will share some “Gary in a Nutshell” comments later when I continue today’s GMA Journal.
