The Gospel Music Association (GMA) Board of Directors installed its newly elected directors and new vice presidents at the first board meeting of 2006-07 held recently in Nashville, announced John W. Styll, president of the GMA. In addition, several new industry professionals were appointed to representative seats for the Board.
Seven new directors, which were voted on by GMA members at the annual membership meeting held during GMA Music Week in April, will serve two-year terms. They are:
Scott Brickell, president and CEO of BrickHouse Entertainment
Jim Chaffee, president of Chaffee Management Group
Jeff Gregg, agent for Creative Artists Agency
Jon Hull, vice president of Operations for KSBJ-FM in Houston
Charley Humbard, president and CEO of Gospel Music Channel in Atlanta
Jacquelyn Marushka, vice president of Public Relations at Provident Music Group
Nina Williams, vice president of Label Operations for Provident Label Group
The Board of Directors elects four vice presidents each year. Newly elected vice presidents are:
Heidi Brown Lewis, vice president of Marketing for Columbia Records in the Washington, D.C. area
Valerie Summers, vice president, William Morris Agency
Cheryl Moore, director of Gospel Marketing for Verity Records/Zomba Label Group
Luis R. Fernandez, Jr., vice president of Sales and Marketing for Editorial Unilit in Miami
The GMA Board of Directors provides representation to various segments of the music industry. For the 2006-07 year, new representatives include:
Representing Southern Gospel Music Guild (SGMG) – Clarke Beasley, executive vice president of the National Quartet Convention in Louisville, Ky.
Representing the GMA Academy Council – John Mays, vice president of A&R for Centricity Records
Representing Performing Rights Organization BMI – Jody Williams, vice president of Writer/Publisher Relations for BMI Nashville
International Representative – Eric Nordhoff, president of Go Global Entertainment
Founded in 1964, the 4,000-member Gospel Music Association is dedicated to exposing, promoting and celebrating the gospel through music. The GMA supports all styles of gospel music including contemporary pop, rock, black gospel, urban, praise & worship, Southern gospel, country and children’s gospel music. The GMA produces the GMA Music Awards, which recognizes achievement in all genres of gospel music and are voted on by members of the GMA. GMA Music Week 2007 is scheduled to begin on April 21, 2007 and culminating with the handing out of Dove Awards at the 38th Annual GMA Music Awards on April 25, 2007 in Nashville.
