Is the Fourth of July going to be different for you this year? One thing is true about tragedy, slumbering eyes are ripped wide open by cold, harsh reality. We are left with just the rearview mirror and a perspective only to be absorbed from afar. Appreciating with more intensity, what was once there but missed upon first glance. Giving birth to a new and more vivid perspective, one that should not be quickly forgotten.
Fourth of July Thoughts
Tragedy cannot be explained away or swept under the carpet. We must see it for exactly that …. tragedy, and learn from it. This will honor who and what was lost. As Christian Americans we have a very important job this Fourth of July. As the possible threats of more terrorist attacks on our County pour in and the ongoing attacks from within our own Country, on the Pledge of Allegiance and it’s reference to God, we must arm ourselves! We have the most powerful weapon in the Universe ….. PRAYER! No pen of a politician, bomb of a terrorist or any plans of the enemy can stand up against PRAYER! Calling out to God for our country is imperative in the next few days! Hit your knees for your country, the country that God has blessed and favored because it was founded on a belief in the Lord Jesus Christ! Don’t allow politicians to rewrite the intent of our Founding Fathers! Don’t allow terrorist to dictate the celebration that will honor and respect the many lives that: were given in battle for our very freedom; the visionaries that did not back down but plunged into uncharted territory to establish this great country AND the lives that were lost and destroyed on September 11, 2001!! Pray down God’s sovereign hand of protection over the United States of America!!
Dedicate this week to pray for our country, ask for wisdom and protection for our President ……. PRAISE GOD, a President that quotes God’s Word and is not ashamed!! He calls upon the Name of the Lord, this is such an awesome thing, understand and appreciate the magnitude of this!! It should motivate you to pray every day for President George Bush!!
Do not let fear dictate your activities, rest in the Lord and fear Him only!! I will leave you with Psalm 91, a beautiful depiction of how our loving
Father looks after us!! Take in all of the promises and protection of this Psalm, and put your faith and trust in the One that is in control, then go to battle on your knees!! Remember that you are at the Throne of God, He is over all things…..AND HE IS LISTENING TO YOU!! He does not have voice mail, a beeper, answering machine, email or lunch breaks……He is available 24/7!! Now it does not get ANY better than that! YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!
PSALM 91 (NLT)
1) Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2) This I declare of the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I am trusting him. 3) For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague.
4) He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. 5) Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor fear the dangers of the day, 6) nor dread the plague that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.
7) Though a thousand fall! at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. 8) But you will see it with your eyes; you will see how the wicked are punished. 9) If you make the LORD your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, 10) no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your dwelling. 11) For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. 12) They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone. 13) You will trample down lions and poisonous snakes; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! 14) The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15) When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them. 16) I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
