Essential Records Signs Paul Colman Trio

Essential Records welcomes the
energetic, acoustic-driven Paul Colman Trio to its roster. A household name
among Australia’s music lovers, this three-man band has relocated to the
U.S. in preparation for its first label project, due in stores May 21st, and
the 53-city “Come Together” tour with label mates Third Day and Bebo Norman
this winter/spring.
“We are delighted to have the Paul Colman Trio join us here at Essential,”
said Robert Beeson, president and founder of Essential Records. “I’ve been
following their ministry for some time and truly believe they are a natural
fit with the values and goals of our company.”
Named “Artist of the Year” in 2000 and 2001 by The Rock Across Australia
(TRAA) chart, the trio has dominated the Australian airwaves with relentless
radio success. The band’s nine singles have all charted in the Top 5,
including two No. 1 hits with “Turn” and “Sundown,” and “Your Sweet Voice”
reaching No. 2, while spending 44 weeks on the charts.
Formed in 1998 in Melbourne, Australia, the Paul Colman Trio, affectionately
referred to as PC3, is Paul Colman (lead singer/songwriter/guitarist), Grant
Norsworthy (bass/vocals) and Phil Gaudion (drums/percussion/vocals). Having
released four independent albums, titled Serious Fun, Turn, PC3 Live
Electric and PC3 Live Acoustic, the group is known for its unparalleled live
shows and has been selling out venues for the past four years. They have
toured extensively in Australia and the U.S., performing alongside such
well-known contemporary Christian artists as Third Day, P.O.D, Jennifer
Knapp, and Newsboys.
“The Paul Colman Trio’s music has certainly made an impression on me,”
commented fellow Essential Records artist Matt Odmark of Jars of Clay.
“Their message is powerfully woven through great songs.”
The group’s debut label project, produced by Monroe Jones (Third Day, Ginny
Owens, Caedmon’s Call, Chris Rice), is scheduled to release May 21st and
will feature the same signature pop/rock sound that PC3’s fans have grown to
expect. In the meantime, the trio will remain busy performing at Parachute Festival 2002 in January before going on the road with Third
Day’s “Come Together” tour, which kicks off in mid-February and runs through
early May. Following the tour they will embark on a summer festival circuit
before gearing up for another national tour this fall.
The Paul Colman Trio is managed by Nashville-based Alabaster Arts, Inc.
Their roster currently includes OC Supertones, Relient K, The Elms, and Katy
Hudson. The company seeks to communicate the faithfulness of God to the
world through the arts.
