Dr. Michael Youssef Honored in Egypt

Leading The Way founder and pastor of The Church of The Apostles in Atlanta, Dr. Michael Youssef, returned home to Egypt recently to preach a dual-language revival in Cairo, as well as preaching in his hometown of Asyut, Egypt, and was honored with invitations from Egyptian officials during his visit, all of which will air on “The Egypt Revival Report,” a Leading the Way Television Special this weekend, beginning today, on various networks.
While in Cairo, Egypt, Youssef was invited to meet with Egypt’s Minister of Islamic Endowment, Dr. Mahmood Hamdi Zaqzouq, where he was honored with the Medal of The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, which is an honor reserved for foreign dignitaries and heads of state.  He was also welcomed by various government officials in his hometown of Asyut, and preached at the First Evangelical Church in dual-language, as he does in his radio ministry which also airs in that region, where one phrase is spoken in English by Youssef and then echoed in Arabic by a translator.  This visit was the first opportunity for many to hear in person the voice of the preacher they have listened to for the past nine years.
“The people of Egypt are responding to God’s message in record numbers,” said Youssef.  “Egypt has the largest population in the Arab world, but only 10 percent are Christians.  More than 1,000 people made commitments to become Christians during the four day revival in Cairo.  It was such an honor to be welcomed back to the home of my youth with such a warm reception.”
“The Egypt Revival Report,” which showcases footage from this trip and interviews with audience members, will air on various networks including FamilyNet, Trinity Broadcasting Network, Daystar Television Network and various local channels where Leading The Way is normally viewed.  This special was written by, and features voice-over of,  Leading The Way co-host and former CBS This Morning co-anchor Jane Robelot.  Check your local listings for outlets and times, or visit the website www.leadingtheway.org.
