Dog Nights of Summer & Lights Bring Crowds to Cheekwood

~ Last night of Cheekwood’s Dog Nights of Summer was August 31 | 5:30 – 10 PM ~

The last night of Cheekwood’s Dog Nights of Summer was Thursday night, and it was paws-itively a night of tail waggin’, four-legged friends. The weather couldn’t have been nicer, so people and their pets thronged to Cheekwood Botanical gardens.

And there was plenty for the canines to enjoy. A welcome table was set up with treats and water bowls to for hungry and thirsty pups. These dogs were too busy enjoying the treats to pay any attention to the camera.

It is possible that Fido and friends were not the only draw. LIGHT featuring the light installations of Bruce Munro was also going on, and since it was also Thursday Night Out, the Crooked Rhythm Band No. 1 was playing with a lineup of Nashville’s most sought-after musicians laying down funky grooves influenced by disco, pop, soul, Afrobeat and R&B.

Whatever the attraction, the paths at Cheekwood were pleasantly trafficked with enough people to make it interesting, but not so crowded that the dogs, light installations, trains, gardens, and the band could not easily be seen and enjoyed.

Many guests arrived at 5:30 or 6 pm with their fur friends to get the best of both worlds— tour the gardens in the daylight; then turn around and enjoy it again after dark. Viewing Bruce Munro’s magical light installations after dark completed the night of pup-friendly fun.

Cheekwood’s next dog-friendly event is coming up October 21 & 22, with the Halloween Pooch Party!
