Aslan Grows
In the film, Lucy hugs Aslan and says, “You’ve grown.” Aslan replies, “Every year you grow, so shall I.”
Teenagers, especially those who have grown up in church, can sometimes have a “been there, done that” approach to God. They know the Sunday School stories; they can recite the books of the Bible; they’ve been to countless Vacation Bible Schools, Mom’s Day Outs, camps, retreats, rallies, concerts, seminars, and workshops. No wonder they think that they have Christianity figured out.
They don’t realize how little they understand God.
He’s unfathomable, unknowable – and yet He has made Himself known to us. We cannot imagine His unlimited power, intelligence, or wisdom – and yet He has given us His Word.
As your young recruits grow and gain greater thinking skill, they’ll gain an ability to see more and more of who God is, what He has done, and what He can do. Here are a few Scriptures that reinforce this concept:
* When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. 1 Corinthians 13:11
* “…and become mature, attaining the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13
* “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection…” Philippians 3:10
Here’s a cool online Character Guide of the colorful creatures (and humans) inhabiting Narnia in Prince Caspian.
The first of six “just for Narnia Youthworker Insiders” – conversations with C.S. Lewis’ stepson Douglas Gresham answering questions submitted by Insider youthworkers – is available here.
A “Behind The Scenes” exclusive Disney tour video with Oscar-winning creature supervisor Howard Berger at his studio is the first of with Howard. Go here to get the video.
If you have an iPhone, you can go here for a Prince Caspian wallpaper graphic.
