Seeing Aslan

This is one of the key allegories in Prince Caspian – the ability to see God when others can’t. At first, only Lucy can see Aslan. Susan says, “I’d like to believe he was here, Lucy. But Trumpkin’s way just makes more sense.” Later, Susan asks, “Why do you think I didn’t see Aslan?” Lucy: “I don’t know. Maybe you didn’t really want to.” Susan thinks for a moment and says, “You always knew you’d be coming back here, didn’t you?” Lucy: “I hoped so.” Susan: “I’d finally just got used to the idea of being in England.”
Here are a couple of Scriptures that relate to this key point:
* But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ Philippians 3:20
* Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. Hebrews 12:2-3
Later in the film – when the battle seems to be lost, Peter is standing at the foot of the shattered Stone Table, remorseful. Lucy steps up beside him, sympathetic. Peter says, “You’re lucky, you know … to have seen him. I wish he’d just given me some sort of proof.” Lucy looks from Peter to the cracked table and says, “Maybe we’re the ones who need to prove ourselves to him.”
* “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.” Luke 16:31
Check out this low-rez sneak peak at the next “featurette” video from Narnia. While it’s still up, you can find the video here. You will see shots of Reepicheep, Trufflehunter, and Trumpkin. All in all, a very cool YouTube video!
