“You’re It?”
The Narnians and Prince Caspian were expecting grown-ups to come to help them save Narnia, and were surprised (and a bit dismayed) when children arrived instead.
Kids are wildly optimistic about their capabilities. If you ask a classroom full of first graders, “Who in here is creative?” you’ll get every hand raised enthusiastically in the air. But a parent in Sunday School class that same question, and you might a timid, “I can draw, kind of” response from one person.
For some reason, grown-ups have lost their faith in themselves. And Jesus was VERY clear about the importance of children in His Kingdom. Check out these verses:
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3-4
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
The Kingdom of God is built upside-down and backwards from what we would expect. In God’s Kingdom, youth is very important. That’s why Paul had to remind his young friend, Pastor Timothy:
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
If Narnia is to be reclaimed, young people are going to have to step up. The same is true for our “kingdom.” If our world is to be saved, we must rely on youth.
This week, Ben Barnes (who plays Prince Caspian in the movie) intros the movie trailer.
Prince Caspian Video Game
There’s nothing like going to the source when it comes to a licensed video game. In the case of the upcoming Prince Caspian video game for major consoles, the “source” happens to come from a couple of different directions: film director Andrew Adamson, who is the director of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the movie based on the influential C.S. Lewis novel; the visual effects masters at Peter Jackson’s Weta Digital studios; as well as the C.S. Lewis estate itself. This video game promises to be action-packed, strategic, and true to the novel. Go here for a video interview with the Producer of the game.
