Denver & The Mile High Orchestra Go to Greece

Christian music’s premier Big Band, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra, is slated to perform in Athens, Greece, during the 2004 Summer Olympic Games. In conjunction with the FLAME/”More Than Gold” Olympic outreach program, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra will headline several performances in Athens, including a concert at a downtown plaza on Saturday, August 14, the day following the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Games.
Prior to arriving in Athens, the group will also present concerts in Northern Ireland. On August 11 and 12, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra will perform in the coastal resort cities of Port Stewart and Port Adown, as part of mission outreach events sponsored by Port Adown Baptist Church.
“D&MHO is thrilled to bring our music ministry to both Northern Ireland and Greece,” said Denver Bierman, founder and bandleader, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra. “It¹s especially exciting to be able to perform in Athens during the Olympics. The Games offer the rare opportunity for all four corners of the earth to come together at one place and at one time, and we¹re going to be there to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It will be a life-changing experience, and we are honored to be part of this historic event.”
Denver & The Mile High Orchestra¹s concerts in Northern Ireland and Greece are being facilitated by the Atlanta-based Global Missions Project. Founded in 2002, Global Missions Project (GMP) is a ministry born from the National Church Music Expo conferences, which serves to develop mission opportunities for Christian musicians to share their talents through world missions. Incorporated as a nonprofit ministry, GMP serves as an international bridge between church musicians and denominational mission agencies and missionaries who request them to come.
The nonprofit organization FLAME was created by a group of Christians in Greece, with the unique goal of serving the spiritual needs of the athletes and visitors who will be in Athens for the Olympic Games. Working with the international athletic organization “More than Gold,” FLAME is cooperating with the International Olympic Committee in an effort to offer the best possible support for the success of the games, via the participation of hundreds of volunteers.
