Callers of Dave Ramsey’s “Debt Free Friday” shows have eliminated $10,903,500 in 2004. This impressive total only includes the callers who made it on-the-air on designated Friday call-in days. The total does not include debt reported on other days, or through additional methods such as Ramsey’s FPU classes, or by any other means.
Ramsey’s syndicated show airs in more than 200 markets. Listeners from across the country call in daily to ask questions about getting out of debt, making real estate decisions, investing, saving for emergencies, and learning wealth building strategies. Fridays, however, are almost exclusively saved for debt-busting. On Friday, Ramsey invites calls from listeners who are celebrating being debt-free. Lara Johnson, who screens callers for the show and updates the debt-free figure, says, “Callers are elated when they’ve finally accomplished what they’ve worked so hard for – a life without debt. They’re excited to share their success, and Dave is always the first to congratulate them.”
Callers to the show reveal how, through the use of Ramsey’s advice, they were able to eliminate debt – and the destruction it brings – from their lives. A running total is kept throughout the year of the amount of debt reported by callers to the Friday show.
