David Phelps Brings Joy to the South

Male vocalist nominee David Phelps will be in Gallatin, Tennessee
December 4, 2002. The Christmas tour, named after his album “Joy, Joy” begins in
Prattville, Alabama and ends December 22 in Hope, Arkansas. Opening for Phelps is Doxology
recording artist Shannon Wexelberg.
“Joy, Joy” features Chicago’s Millar Brass Ensemble and includes 10 tracks: “Joy, Joy,” “Jesus, What a Wonderful Child,” “Joyful Halleluia,” “Tonight,”
“Birthday of the King/ Hark the Herald,” “I Heard the Bells,” “Manger Medley,”
and traditional favorites “O Holy Night,” “Do You Hear What I Hear” and “Joy to
the World.”
David Phelps has been singing his entire life. Growing up in Tomball, Texas, he sang with his
family in church, in the school choir and at conventions. In 1992, Phelps graduated from Baylor
University.In 1996, Phelps moved to Nashville with his family to pursue a full-time career and solo
recording contract. Six months after making the move, he auditioned for the Gaither Vocal Band.
Since 1996 he’s performed for more than six million fans as a member of the Gaither Vocal Band.
Originally from Boulder, Colo., Doxology recording artist Shannon Wexelberg recently made
Nashville her home. A pianist, vocalist and songwriter, her label debut, “Story Of My Life,” is
set to hit stores on Dec. 21. As a songwriter, Wexelberg has had more than twenty of her songs
recorded for various projects. She has served as a clinician for Maranthanal Worship Leader
Workshops and led worship for Family Life’s “I Do” marriage conferences, the National
Day of Prayer and the American Association of Christian Counselors.
