David Lipscomb Elementary School will host a
workshop for preschool teachers, directors and administrators March 2 at
8:15 a.m. at David Lipscomb High School, 3901 Granny White Pike, Nashville.
A variety of sessions will be offered. Group sessions include “Don’t
Look Under the Bed! Understanding the Fears of Preschoolers,” with Dr. Chris
Qualls, chairperson of the department of psychology at Emory and Henry
College; and “Catch Some Creativity,” with Dr. Joyce Rucker, past chair of
department and director of teacher education at Lipscomb University.
Sessions for directors and administrators include “Leadership Styles,” with
Dr. Keith Nikolaus director of David Lipscomb Campus School; and “Conflict
Management,” with Dr. Junior, associate professor of education at Lipscomb
University.
Preschool teachers may choose two sessions from the following:
“Hands-On Science for Preschoolers,” with Jennifer Brown, kindergarten
teacher at Hendersonville Bible Kindergarten; “Fingerplays, Books, Music, Oh
My!,” with Lisa Hoover, director of children’s services at LaVergne Public
Library; “Just Tell the Bible Story and the Children Will Come,” with Linda
Wright Riley, Bible storyteller at First United Methodist Church,
Huntsville, Ala.; “Wiggle While You Work: Movement Activities with Math,
Reading and Music,” with Jamie Potts, first grade teacher at David Lipscomb
Elementary; “Managing the Learning Environment,” with Dr. Junior High,
associate professor of education at Lipscomb University; and “Make and Take
Art Activities for Preschoolers,” with Susan Whitehurst, art teacher at Gene
Brown Elementary School, Hendersonville, Tenn.
