Dave Ramsey Adds More Books to Roster

In Dave Ramsey’s children’s book series the main character Junior teaches children about managing their money as he navigates through his own financial decisions. In September, Ramsey will release three new titles – Adventures in Space, A Special Thank You and Battle of the Chores – in which Junior learns about contentment, integrity and debt. Junior’s adventures began in The Super Red Racer, Careless at the Carnival, The Big Birthday Surprise, and My Fantastic Fieldtrip where he learned about working, spending, giving and saving. Each book is $9.99 at www.daveramsey.com, by calling 1-888-227-3223 or through local bookstores.
The average American child may view as many as 40,000 commercials every year and by age 3 can recognize 100 different brand logos according to focusonyourchild.com. In a 2004 Time magazine article the writer found that corporate America spends an estimated $15 billion to advertise directly to children and that children under the age of 13 influence $600 billion in family spending along with $40 billion that they spend on candy and clothes.
“You have to teach children about money intentionally – create teachable moments,” said Dave Ramsey, nationally syndicated radio talk show host and best selling author. “The advertisers have a plan so you must have one too. Children who reach the age of eighteen with their entire skills set composed on Nintendo and eating Doritos have been neglected. Their parents neglected to give them the character traits necessary to live successfully.”
New Books
In Adventures in Space, Junior learns that you don’t have to spend lots of money to get the things you want. This story teaches that you can be just as happy with what you already have around you.
In A Special Thank You, Junior learns the importance of doing what’s right even when no one is looking. This story teaches the importance of integrity and the unexpected thanks that it brings.
In Battle of the Chores, Junior learns that when borrowing money to get what you want now instead of waiting and saving, there are unexpected consequences. This story teaches children the dangers of debt and how it can affect not only the borrower but the relationship they have with the lender.
Original Books

In The Super Red Racer, Junior learns that work is a great place to go when he wants to purchase that incredible, super cool item that was not in the budget. This story teaches children the value of work and the rewards of owning your stuff instead of your stuff owning you.

In Careless at the Carnival, Junior learns how easy it is to spend too much money on things you don’t really need or want. This story teaches children the benefits of planning their spending and sticking to the plan no matter what.

In The Big Birthday Surprise, Junior learns that giving some of what you have to those in need makes a person less selfish. This story teaches children the value of giving to others as well as the great feeling that comes with sharing what you have.
In My Fantastic Fieldtrip, Junior learns that you can do three things with money: give, save and spend. This story teaches children the value of allotting money to each of these activities and why they should do so. It will also introduce them to the idea of creating an “envelope system” to help them control their money.
Throughout the month of September, Chick-fil-A will feature five of Ramsey’s children’s books in their kid’s meals nationwide. While other leading quick-service chains often partner with entertainment groups to develop toys touting the latest children’s movie or television show, Chick-fil-A prefers premiums that are educational or promote character development and encourage family interaction.
