Tonight I was invited by some friends at Carrabbas at Cool Springs Mall, and after a delicious meal of Mezzaluna, I we caravanned over to The Gate church in Franklin for Christmas Eve Services. The Gate felt almost like home. It should. The pastor, Steve Frye was pastor at Belmont Church for several years, and I have been a member at Belmont for more years than I can count! Frye is also a respected member of the gospel music industry as a composer and recording artist, as well as a pastor and author.
The Christmas Eve service at The Gate was simple and lovely. We sang Christmas carols, we had communion, and then we lit candles one by one while we sang Silent Night. Frye played keyboard while encouraging us to find the deeper meaning behind the universal candles and carols.
