Christian music is the fastest growing sector of the Australian music industry, says Sydney’s Sunday Telegraph. The sector outsells country, classical, jazz and soundtracks. Audio sales of recorded Christian music in 2004 were more than $30 million. Christian music represents 5.6% of total music sales in Australia.
In 2004, the overall market for recorded music (excluding DVD) was $540 million [ARIA]. Gold and Platinum CD sales are recognised internationally as symbols of sales success. A total of 25 Christian music titles have gained gold and platinum status.
