From comedy clubs and cruise ships to colleges and corporate events,
Scott Wood has been hailed as one of the funniest Christian comedians
working today. And, on Thursday, August 30, the award-winning comic will
bring his act to Bluefield College as part of the school’s Comedy Club
Series and Welcome Week activities.
Bluefield College will begin its fall 2001 semester with first-day
classes on Wednesday, August 22. Students and the public are invited to take
part in a host of Welcome Week activities to help kick off the academic
year, including Wood1s Comedy Club performance, Thursday, August 30.
Wood, a full-time comedian since 1989, has entertained audiences all
across the United States and abroad in a variety of television, radio and
personal appearances. His list of club credits includes The Comedy Store,
The Ice House, The Laugh Factory, and the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas. His
television credits include appearances on ABC, CBS, Fox, “America1s Funniest
People,” The Family Channel, and A&E1s “Comedy Central” and “Comedy on the
Road.”
Wood has also been a hit at corporate functions throughout the country
for McDonald1s Corporation, Disney, Xerox, Nissan, Price Waterhouse, Century
21, and the Salvation Army. He has opened for a variety of popular musical
artists, including Brooks and Dunn, Tower of Power, Beatlemania, and Blood,
Sweat and Tears.
Best known for his impressions, Wood was named Stand-up Comedy Champion
after winning the Discovery ’97 Talent Search for funniest comedian. Among
his repertoire of 300 celebrity impressions are Bill Clinton, Rush Limbaugh,
John Travolta, Nicholas Cage and Kelsey Grammer, as well as singers Michael
Bolton, Frank Sinatra and Willie Nelson.
Wood’s Bluefield College show will begin at 9 p.m. in the Student
Activities Center in Shott Hall on Thursday, August 30. The public is
invited to attend, and admission for the event is free. For more
