Until now, Christafari has never performed as a whole band on the
island of Jamaica. Lead singer Mark has been there 14 times, but never with
the entire lineup, and never for a full length concert.
Christafari’s first Jamaican Tour will take
place this March, and the foundational date will be a massive event called
“Fun in the Son” on Saturday, March 23rd, 2002.
This year the Jamaican tourist board has set out to change the negative image
that Jamaica has been given each Spring Break, by the pot smoking, rum and
Red Stripe (beer) drinking MTV generation. The location is the beautiful
port city of Ocho Rios, a place famous for it’s Dunn’s River Falls–and a
place yet untouched by the wayward university Spring Break crowds.
The goal of “Fun in the Son” is to give
Christians a positive event to attend this Spring Break. Christians from
secular colleges and Christian universities alike will be coming to Ocho Rios
for various Christian concerts throughout the whole month of March. The
Zenith of the month will be on Saturday the 23rd of March (the week of
Caribbean Music Expo) when Christafari and Stitchie will perform a massive
concert with other Caribbean gospel favorites.
