Two of the world’s most in-demand modern worship leaders, Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman, are coming to the brand new Chapel at Crosspoint (500 Crosspoint Drive, Getzville/Buffalo, NY) Tuesday, October 11, as part of Tomlin’s Indescribable Tour.
The new Chapel is an example of what has been termed a “mega-church,” with seating for more than 2,000 members and many other amenities that make it one of the largest churches in Western New York. Besides Tomlin and Redman, Louie Giglio, an energetic author/speaker known for hosting massive “Passion Conferences” for young spiritual seekers, is also scheduled to appear.
Featuring songs from Tomlin’s Arriving and Redman’s Blessed Be Your Name: Songs of Matt Redman Vol. 1, as well as powerful and encouraging messages from Giglio, the 26-city Indescribable Tour is being brought to Western New York by Kingdom Bound ministries, the same people who put on Kingdom Bound Christian music festival each summer at Six Flags Darien Lake amusement park. Buffalo is becoming a hotbed for Christian music concerts, as are Toronto and Rochester, together forming a region known as the “Holy Arc” with its own Christian concert and event news network at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/holyarc.
One of the premier songwriters of today, Chris Tomlin is known for writing “Forever,” “We Fall Down,” “The Wonderful Cross,” “Famous One” and more anthems sung by millions of people each week in churches around the world. Debuting at No. 39 on the Billboard Top 200, Arriving received a mention in USA Today for its sales success, was given a four-out-of-four star review by Knight Ridder News Service and was a top pick for favorite worship album of the year by ChristianityToday.com. The album also garnered Tomlin his first GMA Music Award for Praise & Worship Album of the Year in April and was voted best album in the 2005 Christian Retailing Retailers Choice Awards’ Music category in July. Tomlin also released his first book this year entitled The Way I Was Made.
Louie Giglio is the founder of Passion Conferences, a collegiate movement encouraging people around the world to live for God. As a part of the Passion Network, Giglio heads sixstepsrecords, a label partner with EMI CMG, and home to artist-worshipers David Crowder Band and Charlie Hall, as well as Tomlin and Redman. Known for his humorous yet straight-to-the-heart approach, Giglio speaks for various gatherings around the world through national conferences, campus tours and the OneDay solemn assemblies. For the past 10 years, he has also taught over three thousand single adults weekly at the interdenominational Bible study in Atlanta, called “7|22.” Giglio is also the author of the acclaimed books, The Air I Breathe: Worship as a Way of Life, and I am not but I Know I AM, in which Giglio challenges the reader to move from self-centered living toward God-centered living.
Matt Redman, a world-famous singer-songwriter from England, has had his songs recorded by artists like Michael W. Smith, Rebecca St. James, Tree 63, Kutless and Passion, among others. Redman released his first collection of key worship songs last month, Blessed Be Your Name: Songs of Matt Redman Vol. 1. The live recording is a compilation of Redman’s top songs together for the first time, including “The Heart of Worship,” “Better Is One Day” and “Let Everything That Has Breath.” Also featured on the project is the title track “Blessed Be Your Name,” which earned Redman his first Gospel Music Association (GMA) Music Award this year for Worship Song of the Year. A companion book by Redman and his wife Beth, also entitled Blessed Be Your Name, is in stores now.
