Children are a blessed gift from the Lord. They
are a reward coming from their mother’s body.
A young man’s sons are like the arrows in a soldier’s
arrow bag. A man that fills his arrow bag
with sons will be very happy (Psalm 127:3-5).
God gives children, not as a penalty, but as a privilege.
If parents have acted as good stewards of God’s
gift to them, children born to young parents are a great source of
comfort and protection in old age. Children can be the
extension of our lives, doing what we could
never do, in our sunset years. As the old German
proverb says, “Many childrren make many prayers,
and many prayers brings much blessing.”
Recognized as a gift from God and raised in a Christian home,
children are a blessing indeed. But we do not treat our children
like they are a blessing from God. We do not cultivate good
seeds in their lives. The Word of God says in Galatians 6:7,
“Be not deceived, God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man
soweth, that shall he also reap.”
We as parents and leaders in the body of Christ need to stop being
led astray into error concerning our children. There can be no
double-dealing with God. He is not deceived by hypocrites. Harvest
time is coming and the unchangeable law of sowing and reaping still
applies.
