Easter is the most important celebration for our faith and if we are not careful it can easily get swept away and diverted by the world’s commercial market and tradition. In our Christian walk, we have to face the fact that we are “in the world”… but not “of the world.”
Being different and set apart does not mean being legalistic, arrogant, pious or self-righteous. Statements of faith should lie within the footstep behind us and also within in our present stride. Living for Christ means a life that reflects Him in all that we do, from our actions to our words. Our differences should not come from arrogant separation but from Christlike conviction.
Staying in tune and in step with the Spirit while walking “in the world,” is very important. We are God’s hands and feet here on earth, which means we must be on an intimate level not straddling a fence but boldly defining our faith.
Celebrating Easter should be a reflection of what this day means to; us as Christians, the fulfillment of Prophecy and the eternal destination of OUR souls! If it were not for Christ conquering death, hell and the grave we would have no validation to our Christian faith! This event that we commemorate is HUGE, PIVOTAL to everything we believe and everything that God’s Word says!
Some believers confuse being sterile and upright, to be the reflection of what is “holy.” But, that is so far from the truth! That just makes you unapproachable and so lofty that those lost souls around you either want to puke or turn and be anywhere where you are not! Christ was approachable … not abrasive, humble…..not weak, bold….not repulsive! Be like Christ, don’t be afraid to live for Him and be like Him!
Celebrate Easter with the passion of a sinner that has been saved by grace! Don’t be afraid or timid in showing your kids know how important this day is. You can make coloring eggs fun, but not the main purpose of the day. They won’t get caught up in the stroke of the world’s insignificant brush of our Savior’s Resurrection!
As they are outside hiding eggs, take the time to point out how the trees and the flowers have started to bud and bloom and how the grass is getting greener. Then remind them again of new life, how Christ’s resurrection gave everyone a wonderful opportunity to be born again! Just like the grass, flowers and the trees were brown and dead-like in the fall and…..spring comes to renew branches, leaves, and grass. The application is simple but it is a wonderful place to start!!
The road behind us we cannot recapture and the road ahead cannot always be predicted. But there is an absolute, God has equipped you to handle whatever the day brings! He will always bless you when you take steps that honor Him. Don’t let this wonderful opportunity to witness and to teach slip through your fingers! Have fun and Happy Easter!
