A new website dedicated to CCM’s Top 100 Greatest Songs, was launched this month at, featuring music downloads of the tribute songs, video clips of artist interviews and other interesting information.
“The new CCM Top 100 Greatest Songs CD adds to Vol. 1 as we build towards the ultimate and most unique collection of the top 100 songs in the history of Christian.  We hope that music fans will look forward to this CD and each subsequent CCM Top 100 Greatest Songs CD.  Once all four CDs are released, this will be the essential collection for every CCM music consumer.  In the meantime, each volume stands alone as a great collection of music which weaves the rich tapestry of the Christian music genre and testifies to the unique impact Contemporary Christian music has on hearts and souls,” said Vasquez.
The Dove-winning Crabb Family chose Nicole C. Mullen’s 2001 Dove Award Song of the Year “Redeemer” for its tribute recording which was produced by Jim Cooper (Building 429).  New artist Kristy Starling was first discovered when she was picked from 4,000 entries for ‘Today’s Superstar’ the American Idol-type segment on NBC’s Today show.  She records Andrea Crouch’s rousing “Jesus is the Answer” with Brown Bannister (Steven Curtis Chapman, Amy Grant) at the production helm.  Both songs will be included with 23 original recordings from the Top 100 list.
On behalf of The Crabb Family, Aaron Crabb, said: “This song (‘Redeemer’) was an instant classic when it was first released.  Nicole is an amazing writer and singer and gave us a timeless reminder with this gem.  It was a little unnerving to do a new version of such a familiar song, but we were honored to be included and only hope we did it justice.”

The companion book from Integrity Publishers, CCM’s Top 100 Greatest Songs in Christian Music, features each of the 100 songs with intriguing details, interviews, facts and photos, providing context and insight into that song’s impact in Christian music and on music fans.  The top 100 songs were chosen by a group of journalists, industry experts and Christian music fans via an Internet survey.  The book will be in stores in time for holiday gift-giving.
“As we set out to compile the greatest songs in Christian music, we gained an appreciation for the wide variety of topics and styles Christian artists have produced — from the Jesus Movement in the ‘70s to a post 9-11 world today,” said Roberta Croteau, associate publisher of CCM Magazine.  “We also came to appreciate the deep connection of faith all these songs share, no matter the time or season in which they first were born. We hope our list will resonate with long-time Christian music fans, and cause new listeners to use these songs as a starting point to discover the great wealth Contemporary Christian music has to offer.”
