Christmas celebrations all over the world include the singing of carols, the
lighting of candles, and enjoying decorated food. But the carols, candles,
and cookies are not the goal, they are not our target destination, they are
merely road signs. They point us to the One who came to bring us unusual joy
and impenetrable peace, and to lay down His life so that we could live. And
so we travel on our pilgrim way as the shepherds and wise men did so long
ago. We too are going to visit the King.
We’ll use the road signs of
Christmas carols and candlelight to point ourselves in the direction of
Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, the Son of God, the Light of the World, the
Prince of Peace, Immanuel, God with us.
O Come Let us Adore Him!
