Canadian Indy Band One Cross Nominated for a Vibe Award

Canadian rock band One Cross’s independent release Clearly Distorted has been nominated for a Vibe Award for Album of the Year in the rock/alternative category for the first annual Canadian Gospel People’s Choice Awards.
One Cross – Michael Cavallo (17), Shawn Cavallo (16), Dave Coulas (16) and Mike Cavallo – hails from Mississauga, Ontario and is the only independent band nominated in the category. Other bands nominated are Relient K, downhere, Ten Shekel Shirt and Thousand Foot Krutch.
One Cross has been recording and performing in Canada and the US for more than 5 years, since Michael and Shawn were 12 and 11 respectively. The band was the regional winner of the 1996 Canadian Gospel Music Association talent search. In 1999 they won the Kingdom Bound Talent Contest, making them the youngest band to ever perform at the festival. They have toured extensively in the region, opening for bands like J. Englishman, Skillet, Polarboy, Broomtree and have made radio and television appearances throughout Canada. The band has also been profiled in print media in both Canada and the US.
One Cross is set to release their fourth independent CD, Welcome to the Real World, this June.
Nominations for the Vibe Awards were determined after extensive consultations with Canadian djs, promoters, music executives, artists, journalists, producers and program directors, who submitted their recommendations for the best candidates in each category. The winners will be determined based on the number of votes received at the online voting site: www.soundsalive.org. Only one vote per email address will be allowed.
