A new divorce recovery program, for rebuilding after divorce, will be held at Brentwood United Methodist Church, Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, beginning January 18, through February 22, 2006. This new series, to be led by Gayle Powers, L.C.S.W., will focus on understanding the stages of grieving, adjusting to change, and dealing with issues of acceptance, loss, letting go, forgiveness, and moving on.
Different from most other divorce groups, these BUMC programs are led by a professional, licensed clinical social worker, offering a dual benefit to the sessions. Facilitator, Gayle Powers, has been in private psychotherapy practice in the Brentwood area for many years, working with adults dealing with life transitions, and specializing in couples communication. She has served as president and board member of the Nashville Psychotherapy Institute, lectured at Vanderbilt University on mental health issues, and is a popular workshop presenter. Gayle brings exceptional experience and skills to these classes.
Cost for the series is $50.00, and pre-registration is required. Free child care is available with advance notice. For more information, or scholarship assistance, contact Norm Anderson at (615) 324-7240. Class size is limited, so early registration is encouraged. The church is located at 309 Franklin Road in Brentwood.
