Brother’s Keeper – Keeping It Beautiful

Two-time Dove Award nominee Brother’s Keeper is readying for the release of their latest album, Beyond Beautiful. The ten-song project, which releases October 11, 2005 on Training Union Records/Ardent Records, marks the end of a three-year hiatus for Gabe Dunlap, Philip Enzor and John Sanders. The band’s much anticipated third album offers audiences their signature sophisticated rhythms, memorable melodies and intricate harmonies. The CD’s title track, “Beyond Beautiful,” is currently going for adds on radio stations nationwide.
During their break, the Lord was doing great things in their professional and personal lives. Members were starting new companies, and moving to new cities. But as the whirlwind of life began to calm, Brother’s Keeper came to a profound conclusion. “We decided after 2002’s Cover Me not just to fling a record out there. We wanted to take our time with it and find the songs we wanted to be on this record,” comments Dunlap. “It was a hard process, but in looking back, I’m glad we did it the way we did.”
“For us, making this record was about pulling together messages and songs that moved our hearts, lives and spirits where we were, but that will also encourage and motivate other people, Christians and non-Christians alike,” says Sanders. “From a musical standpoint, we want people to really enjoy it and think, ‘Man, that’s solid. They didn’t cut any corners.’ But the message is paramount to us.”
The messages of friendship, commitment and faith on the project are meant to prompt listeners to look beneath the surface of daily life. “Noah” focuses on the desire to be fully open to God’s callings, while “Cross of Christ” honors the sacrifice made for us by Jesus. “Walk With Me” invites men to seek relevance and genuineness in today’s shallow society. The song, written by Tony Wood and 4Him’s Mark Harris, talks about Christian brotherhood and accountability and features the vocals of Bob Carlisle, Todd Agnew, Scott Krippayne, Rick Heil (Sonicflood), David Phelps (Gaither Vocal Band), Russ Lee and Michael O’Brien (Newsong).
“It was great to work with these guys,” notes Sanders. “The fact that these outstanding artists all wanted to contribute their time and talents to this song and were able to coordinate their schedules around it was totally a God thing.”
Brother’s Keeper continues to be actively involved in hands-on ministry in addition to their concert schedule. The band recently returned from a mission trip to Honduras where they joined forces with Christian Youth Movement. Currently, the band is preparing for their annual golf classic which raises money for various charitable organizations.
Outside of his musical endeavors, band member John Sanders co-owns Premier Christian Cruises, a division of The Premier Group, along with music industry veterans Roy Morgan and Gary Gentry. The Premier Group is committed to serving God and people through quality promotion and production of Christian entertainment. Current cruises offered include The Music Boat, Girl’s Get-a-way and K-LOVE’s Friends & Family Music Cruise.
Beyond Beautiful will be available on Training Union Records/Ardent Records.
