When bright October brings her charms to town,
Swathed in blue with yellow saffron in her hair,
I rise to meet this lady fair and romp with her
Through woods that spread their leaves beneath my feet.
Blue October stays, her crispness fresh against my face,
And I wander through her gaze past a garden gate, along
Fence rows to calls of the crow, dove and Carolina wren.
Then clear October wraps a filmy mist about her winsomeness,
Blows breezy kisses as she bids farewell, and those who sigh
To see her go count the ways she seems to glimmer-glow.
