Bonnie Keen at Smyrna Assembly

Nationally known singer, songwriter, author and speaker Bonnie Keen will appear in concert at Smyrna Assembly at 7 PM, August 20th. A founding member of the Dove Award-winning and Grammy-nominated seminal vocal group First Call, Bonnie has also released two solo recordings including her latest, “God Of Many Chances.” In reviewing this new release, Deborah Evans Price of Billboard magazine writes, “Throughout, Keen sings with the passion and conviction of an artist who has lived each lyric: a perfect example of music and life experience fusing to create great art.”
Russ Breimeier of ChristianityToday.com writes, “Bonnie Keen and her producer husband get
everything right with this intelligently produced, emotionally written, and musically diverse adult contemporary pop album, featuring Keen’s impressive vocal abilities.”
Bonnie has also authored two books, “Blessed Are the Desperate for they will Find Hope” and her latest “God loves Messy People,” both published by Harvest House Publishers. In each book, Bonnie communicates encouragement to anyone trying to find hope in a messy world.
Bonnie’s reputation as an engaging author, speaker, and live performer has garnered acclaim throughout her career. In addition to her fifteen years with First Call, Bonnie is a regular participant with the Women of Virtue conferences appears in the Broadway-style musical, “Adam’s Rib,” (therib.com) and is working on a television pilot that is much like “The View” for Christian women in a roundtable discussion format. She has toured with some of Christian music’s most legendary performers, including Sandy Patty and Amy Grant, and provided background vocals for scores of projects.
Still, it is Bonnie’s ability to connect with her audience, to see conflict through compassionate eyes, and to capture both the subtlety and complexity of faith that evokes respect from her peers and fans alike. In a recent concert review published in Nashville’s Tennessean newspaper, Jerry Jennings wrote, “This lady is not just a singer but a world-class musician, comedian, speaker, teacher and writer. She has a maturity of spirit, life experience and vocal artistry that is compelling. Yet not once did I feel this evening was about the performer. It was a tribute to what God has done in her life and was offered up by her to His glory and honor.”
Smyrna Assembly is located at 14119 Old Nashville Highway, in Smyrna, Tennessee. Admission is free – an offering will be taken.
