Bob Smiley’s Funny Feelings

Bob Smiley has a lot of funny feelings these days.
Many of these are featured on his brand-new
comedy album, I’VE GOT A FUNNY FEELING ABOUT THIS,
on Inpop Records. “THE BOB SMILEY”, as he likes to be
called, was born on September 11th (No Joke). Some of his
comedy inspirations include Bill Cosby’s stand up, Johnny Carson’s
monologues. Bob is also a huge Charlie Chaplin silent film fan. (See his
shirt on his album cover)
Bob admits that he grew up as a “typical geeky kid”.
He said, “I had acne so bad, my dog called ME ‘Spot’.”
Onstage, he often talks about his childhood and teen
years. He hopes that this would help his audiences
relate to him as an average kid who dealt with the
same issues teens deal with today. Peer
pressure and popularity are two big issues he talks
about. Bob said that when it’s all said and done, it
doesn’t matter what clothes you wore or how popular
you were. He said, “The only relationship that truly
matters is Jesus Christ!” Bob’s favorite Bible passage
comes from Romans 12,where God talks about how we are
all given individual talents.
His comedic approach is: “I get them to laugh and I
start presenting the Gospel”. His most inspiring
story comes from a girl who came to his show. She
emailed him and told him she was going to commit
suicide. Bob emailed her back with encouraging
scriptures, telling her that God loved her. He was
blessed to see her a few months later at a festival.
She had read Bob’s email reply and began spending a
lot of time reading the Bible. Today she is a
Christian and is doing well.
