The Bluefield College Department of Music will host its annual Spring
Choral Gala, Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Harman Chapel, featuring the
music of five BC choral groups.
Under the direction of Dr. Roger O¹Neel, BC assistant professor of
music, the traditional music gala will feature the performances of BC’s
Masterworks Chorale, Bluefield Singers, Variations, Women’s Chorus and
Praise Singers.
Masterworks Chorale is a unique choral group that combines BC students,
faculty and staff with musicians and singers from the community. The
80-member Masterworks ensemble will be performing Mozart’s “Coronation
Mass.”
Bluefield Singers is a student choir open to all students at the
college. The group requires no audition and represents all disciplines at
the school. This group will be performing a variety of classical and
contemporary Christian music.
Variations is an auditioned voice ensemble from the college,
representing a cross-section of the student body. The group specializes in
performing many different styles of music. The select choir sings very
challenging music that spans five centuries.
BC’s Women’s Chorus and Praise Singers are the two newest additions to
the Department of Music. The Women¹s Chorus is an all-female choir composed
of BC students, faculty and staff, while the Praise Singers is a small group
of select students who sing contemporary Christian praise and worship
selections.
The Spring Choral Gala is open and free to the public. For more
information, please call the BC Office of Public Relations at 276-326-4212.
