Global Running Day is June 1

Running for health has numerous benefits. Even those who point to the few potential health problems some runners occasionally face have to acknowledge the overall benefits of weight loss, cardio and bone strengthening among the many wellness benefits of jogging and running.

To mark Global Running Day on June 1, Lawn Love compared over 180 of the largest U.S. cities to rank 2022’s Best Cities for Runners.

To rank cities, Lawn Love looked at dozens of metrics, such as access to parks and running trails, trail difficulty, and environmental conditions. They also considered access to running groups, foot specialists, footwear spending, and gym affordability.

Nashville ranked number 80 in best cities for runners

How did Nashville rank? Out of 180 cities, Nashville came in at number 80, scoring in the top three cities in the U.S. for running quality and near the bottom for affordability. Knoxville ranked #57, Chattanooga ranked #58 and Memphis came in at #139. Middle Tennessee neighbor Murfreesboro scored in the 10 worst cities for runners.
