Benson Records’ vocal trio, Whisper Loud hit the road
this week for three weeks of AC and CHR radio station visits, totaling of
22 stops, in Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Kansas and
wrapping up in their home state of Oklahoma.
Personally introducing Whisper Loud on the tour are Benson Records
President, John Mays and Marketing & Sales VP, Mark Campbell. The unusual
accompaniment of Mays and Campbell on a promotional tour to radio outlets
was prompted by two objectives. To cast a new vision and purpose for Benson
Records led by Mays this fall as he begins the re-launch of the label and
second, to bring new artist Whisper Loud in person, direct to radio
programmers.
“It’s great to get out and spend time with the Christian radio community in
their environment and dialog about artistry and ministry and how we are all
trying to combine those two things in our unique occupations,” commented
Mays. “It is so much more valuable time than the quick ‘Hi! How you doing?’
that happens during GMA Week.”
Taking the time to travel with Whisper Loud on this tour was important to
Mays. “I wanted to make sure radio not only understood what we were doing
at the label but also meet in person an example of the kind of artist that
will help re-define the future of Benson Records. Our vision is not about
a musical style, but rather the heart of the artists.” Mays was convinced
of Whisper Loud’s call to ministry, and excited by their musical gifts,
since the beginning of their two-year friendship that began at an Academy
of Gospel Music event in Kansas City, MO.
Whisper Loud’s debut project Different Kind of Beautiful will hit Christian
bookstores everywhere on Tuesday, December 26. Produced by Mark Hammond
(Nicole Nordeman, Anointed, Cindy Morgan), this 10-song CD showcases pow
erful vocal harmonies complimented by straight-up pop grooves and lyrics
that are reflective of a desire to live out an authentic faith.
Immediately following the album release, Whisper Loud will be performing
their current singles, “If This Is What It Means” and “Like A Circle” as
they hit the road with the 24-city NewSong January Jam Tour. Whisper Loud
will be joining NewSong along with Audio Adrenaline, Bryan Duncan and Joy
