From June 5 through June 26, Hechts at Bellevue Center in Nashville will be holding a food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank. Donations of canned goods will be accepted in the Customer Service area of the store, next to the Salon on the 2nd level.
Serving as Chairwoman of the food drive is Christian Activities.com publisher, Kathryn Darden. “I am honored that Hechts is allowing me to participate in this community project through the Macy’s Partners in Time program,” says Darden. “We want to encourage not only Hechts employees to participate, but also family, friends and customers are invited to bring canned goods to help make our food drive a success for Second Harvest Food Bank.”
The Macy’s Partners in Time program encourages voluntary community service among its employees. “This is the first thing we’ve done for Partners in Time as Macy’s,” says Mary Ellen Aurelius, the Partners in Time Coordinator for the Bellevue store.
While Christmas is a traditional time for food drives, Second Harvest needs canned good during the summer when many children do not get the food they need. “Those meals that are so important to the nourishment of these young kids are not available in the summer because school’s out,” Aurelius points out. Aurelius notes that the items most needed include: canned fruits, canned meats, dried beans and rice, macaroni and cheese and peanut butter. Although food items are the most needed, dollar donations of $50 or more will be matched by the company.
Canned food items and money can be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank through the Customer Service office at Bellevue Center Hechts through June 26th. Call 615-645-5500 for more information.
