Growing up, sisters Rebecca, Alyssa, and Lauren Barlow spent several years touring churches across the country as a back up band for their father Vince, a popular performer of children’s songs amongst the youth ministry. Now, known as BarlowGirl, the contemporary Christian artists have taken center stage. Receiving an impressive 38% percent of the vote, the sisterly trio defeated a talented line-up of “Who’s Next?: User’s Choice” artists including Limbeck, The Willowz and Morningwood. BarlowGirl will begin touring North America later this month in support of their sophomore album Another Journal Entry from Word Entertainment. Fans can catch an exclusive performance and interview with the band beginning January 12th at http://music.yahoo.com/promotions/whosnext.
“We were thrilled and surprised when we found out that we won “Who’s Next?” contest on Yahoo! Music,” says BarlowGirl. “We were so honored by the support from everyone that voted for us. We definitely want to thank our supportive fans, the treasured ones who have been with us from day one and the new fans who discovered us during this event. We will always strive to stay true to our music and message.”
The other segments of the “Who’s Next?” program feature two extremely talented acts for the month of January. Acclaimed singer/songwriter Ed Harcourt has taken over as “The New Now.” Harcourt recently released Strangers, which has been described as his most honest and exposed album to date. Also, 28-year-old reggaeton sensation Voltio has checked in as the “One To Watch.” His self-titled debut album was released last month from Sony and singles from the record have seen some impressive movement on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart.
