Avalon Announces Oxygen Tour – Hits The Road September 20th!

Grammy-nominated vocal group Avalon announces the “Oxygen
Tour,” a 45-city fall tour and 40-city spring tour to support their new
project Oxygen, which released May 22nd on Sparrow Records. Opening this
concert event will be labelmates ZOEgirl as well as Reunion recording artist
Joy Williams.
Concert-goers can expect a highly active show, incorporating video and
special effects with a new stage and lighting set, creating Avalon’s most
innovative tour to date. The tour will feature songs from Oxygen as well as
favorites from past albums Avalon, A Maze Of Grace, In A Different Light and
Joy, including a special medley of their #1 songs.
Janna Long of Avalon comments, “We are so excited for this tour with lots of
things to look forward to, especially getting to meet our fans face to face.
That is one of the best parts. We are also looking forward to playing with
our band again and singing new songs from Oxygen, and rounding those out
with songs from our past records.”
World Vision, an international Christian relief and development
organization, will sponsor the “Oxygen Tour”. Avalon has been a long-time
spokesgroup of World Vision, which works to promote the well being of all
people, especially children. Established in 1950 and now working on six
continents, World Vision is one of the largest Christian relief
organizations in the world. World Vision is a past tour sponsor and a huge
supporter of Avalon.
“Avalon is great for us,” remarks Kris Thompson, World Vision’s Director of
the Artist Associates Program. “We absolutely love them and are so honored
to be partnering with them again. They have brought in over 6800 child
sponsorships for us, which is fabulous. Our goal for this upcoming tour is
for them to get over 1800 kids sponsored. Nobody can represent us like
Avalon can.”
In the past year, Avalon has visited both Costa Rica and El Salvador on
mission trips. Last summer, while in El Salvador, the vocal group visited
with children sponsored by World Vision and experienced their every day
life. During each concert date this fall, a World Vision video will be
shown of their El Salvador visit as well as commentary from each member of
Avalon.
The tour is booked by the William Morris Agency. Valerie Summers, agent for
the tour, comments, “The ‘Oxygen Tour,’ with the blending of Avalon,
ZOEgirl and Joy Williams, makes it the perfect tour for the entire family,
giving both kids and adults Christian-based pop music that they love.”
Norman Miller, artist manager and executive producer of the tour, adds, “I
think that with this being Avalon’s first headline tour, it’s going to be an
incredible evening of music, ministry and entertainment.”
Oxygen, Avalon’s fifth album for Sparrow Records, which debuted at #1 on the
Christian and Mainstream charts, has held the #1 position on the Christian
sales chart for four consecutive weeks. “The Glory,” the first single
released to the CCM AC format, made radio history being the first song in
Christian music ever to be added by all 41 adult contemporary stations
nationwide the same day. Also on that day, “Make It Last Forever” was most
added at the CCM CHR format. “The Glory” was #1 on AC for four weeks in a
row and #1 on INSP, while “Make It Last Forever” was #1 for two weeks in a
row on CHR.
Avalon’s five albums have yielded fourteen #1 singles, two gold records, a
Grammy Award nomination, five Dove Award wins and sixteen Dove Award
nominations. Additional information can be obtained at www.avalonlive.com
