3/9/9/ The Newsboys have announced that after 22 years and more than 2000 shows, Newsboys frontman Peter Furler will no longer front the band in concert. Former DC Talk member Michael Tait will be touring with the band as lead singer with Peter making special appearances throughout the year.
Melinda Doolittle is preparing for the “American Stars in Concert: Spring Break” tour which features a combination of four of the top ten finalists from American Idol’s Seasons 6 and 7. Along with Chikezie (Season 7), Gina Glocksen (Season 6) and Phil Stacey (Season 6), Doolittle will share the stage for an eve of solo, duet and ensemble performances. The Spring Tour launches March 15th in Fort Pierce, FL and will visit 14 cities across the U.S. Doolittle’s debut CD Coming Back To You released last month on Hi Fi Recordings.
We were sad to learn that Kyle Sweet, the wife of Stryper’s Michael Sweet died Thursday after a two-year battle with cancer. She was 52.
3/4/9 The new album from country-soul legend Ronnie Milsap, Then Sings My Soul, releases in March. The 2-CD set is out next week (3.10) on EMI CMG and is comprised of all new recordings of gospel standards, hymns and cover songs, inspired by Ronnie’s faith.
BRASH Recording Artist and American Idol Season 6 finalist Chris Sligh’s new single. “Here Comes Goodbye,” written by Sligh and Clint Lagerberg, (who also co-wrote Chris’ single “Empty Me”) will appear on Rascal Flatt’s upcoming new album, UNSTOPPABLE, out April 7.

3/1/9 On the first weekend of March, the Jonas Brothers in partnership with Disney reled their new 3D movie to launch their world tour and new CD. The Jonas Brothers are making 2009 a year in which they do everything with their fans. To that end, they have established an interactive web site: ww.FanFamilyExperience.com. The movie (rated G) — which they hope will be the largest 3D opening in film history — is a wonderful family outing to look forward to, youth group outing to plan for, and general cultural event worth noting.
