Artist Updates: March 2001

It was announced last week that Delirious will tour the UK with popular mainstream artists Bon Jovi and Matchbox 20 in June. It’s expected that over 250,000 people combined will attend the five arena dates. 3/29/01 It’s official! Jaci
Velasquez has been dating Jeremy from Plus One for the last
six months. Jaci, who recently performed at Rock the Universe, has an
upcoming Spanish album to be released on May 1.
3/27/01 Roger Beale of The Voice House has taped an appearance on “Babbie’s House” to be shown in the Atlanta area on
WATC-TV Channel 57 on Monday, April 2, 2001 at 1:30pm. Check your local cable operator for the cable
channel that WATC is carried on. Not all cable providers carry this station. The show will also be aired on WGGS-TV Channel 16 in Greenville, SC and will be shown on the Sky Angel
Network. If you have Sky Angel or know someone who does, you will need to check the listings for the air date,
which should be sometime in the next few months.
3/23/01 As reported in this column on March 8, Eli recently performed at Live from the Lambs in New York City’s Lamb’s
Theatre. Look for that show to be broadcasted over Salem Music Network and
its affiliates on Sunday, March 25, 5:00-7:00pm EST.
3/30/01 Here’s a little known fact about eLi: before making music, he made a living
performing magic tricks or private parties.
*“Now the News,” from eLi’s current album of the same name, is hitbound at
CHR.
If you’re a PAX217 fan, this summer is just for you. The band will be featured on the main stage of over 20 festivals this summer, including: Creation, Sprit West Coast and Atlanta Fest. The members of PAX217 are staying very busy. Not only are they touring, but they recently released a video for their current single “A.M,” and are also having to put themselves in song writing mode. Between tour dates, they are getting prepared for their next album, which will come out later this year. PAX217 has signed on to be a part of Festival Con Dios later this year. Look for PAX217 tonight, at Rock the Universe, being held in LA.
If you watched WB’s “20 something” drama called “Jack and Jill” recently, you may have heard a familiar voice. Stacie
Orrico’s song “Holding On,”was featured in a recent episode· Stacie is currently on a three week tour

3/21/01 Michael W. Smith will host the 32nd Annual Dove Awards with double national television coverage during the eight days following the live award ceremony. The Doves, which will be held on April 26th at the Grand Ole Opry House, will be televised nationally on PAX-TV on Saturday, April 28th (9pm ET/PT and 8pm CT/MT) and by Chicago Superstation WGN on Friday, May 4th (8pm ET). Matt Brouwer continues to gain adds at CHR with his debut single “WATER”. Currently, Matt is on a 50 city tour that just recently took him to Portland, OR. While there, he stopped by the AIR1 studios, did an on-air
interview, and became the first artist to put his handprint on the AIR1 “Wall of Fame”.
The anticipation is building at radio with the announcement of Jake’s next single. “Believer,” the follow-up to “Waiting” and “The Right
Time”, is set to ship out to AC radio in April with an add date of April 13th. Jake will be attending the Canadian Radio Music Awards in Toronto,
Canada, on Saturday, March 31. Jake is nominated for Pop/Adult Best New
Group and Top 40 Best New Group. The CRMA’s recognize excellence and
outstanding achievement for New Canadian Artists on radio. The nominees are
selected based upon radio airplay and will be voted on by radio
personalities.
LaRue’s first single “Wake Up” from their album Transparent is in
its 17th week on the top 20 CHR chart. The add date for their second single
“Fly” has been pushed back one week due to the success, and now goes for
adds March 30th.
3/17/01 Look for dc talk’s newest project to hit streets on April 24. solo, a seven song EP, will be the introduction to three upcoming solo projects featuring the individuals personal musical taste. Tait, the band, with Michael Tait, as lead singer, is scheduled to release in July with projects from Kmax and tobyMac to follow later in the year. On the EP, fans will be able to hear two original songs from each of the upcoming projects including the fan’s concert favorite, “40 live.” If you were watching Jay Leno a few nights ago, and thought you saw Michael Tait, you were right! While in LA to put the finishing touches on his upcoming solo project, Empty, Michael was stopped on the street during the “Jaywalking” segment, where Jay goes out on the street and asks unsuspecting people US History questions.
Rebecca St. James recently filmed a new video for “Reborn,” off of her current album, Transform. Look for that video on shows across the country soon.
3/15/01 Gotee Records has confirmed that Johnny Q. Public has disbanded. No details available. The group just
recently released their second album Welcome To Earth which features the #1 Rock song “Move.”
3/13/01 Hit Parade is hitting stores now! Audio A’s first greatest hits project
includes 15 of their biggest songs over their career, plus two new killer
songs “One Like You,” and “Will Not Fade.”
Gill Girl — No, it’s not the sequel to “Man from Atlantis” — she’s the baby girl of Amy Grant and Vince Gill! Weighing in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces, Corinna Grant Gill was 19
inches long, according to a press release from Vince’s publicist. Baby Girl Gill was born at 12:36 a.m. at a local Nashville hospital.
Corinna is Amy’s 4th child (she and Gary Chapman had three) as well as child #2 for Vince.

3/10/01 Gotee phenom Jennifer Knapp has started the Back Forty Tour with Justin McRoberts and Bebo Norman. This is Jennifer’s first time headlining a tour, so Gotee warns to “be prepared for Jenn to rock long on this 40-city adventure.”
3/09/01 Rap artist T-Bone hits the charts in his first week of sales. His debut release “The Last Street Preacha” appeared at #10 in the
‘Top Christian Album’ soundscan chart. The first single released to radio, “Ride Wit Me” chart broke this week at #7. T-bone’s
video release “Ride Wit Me” appeared as the “Biggest Mover” on the CCM video countdown chart this week.
Look for T-Bone this spring touring with Newsboys and Audio Adrenaline.

3/18/01 Eli will be on “Live from the Lambs” aired nation wide via internet.
3/23&24/01 Eli will be playing 2 shows (sold out!) each night at the “Cup of Joy” in Greenbay Wisconsin.
3/27/01 “Now the News” Eli’s 3rd release on Forefront Records will be available. “Fish Radio” station in Atlanta will be
interviewing Eli live on their morning show and that evening he will be performing at Planet Hollywood.
3/29/01 Eli heads to Denmark & the UK.

3/05/01 As reported on this site earlier, the 54th Presidential Inaugural Prayer Service, held at the Washington
National Cathedral, welcomed Reunion artist Michael W. Smith. Smith
performed “The Giving,” “Above All” and “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” as part
of the service that was attended by members of the Senate and Congress,
Heads of State and many others, including President George Bush.

3/02/01 Painter, Thomas Kinkade, is partnering with Michele Tumes and Rob Mathes for
an album that combines art and music. The album comes with a book of paintings and inspirational sayings.
Erin O’Donnell has released a new album on Myrrh
Records called “No Place So Far.” This collection of songs represents where Erin and her husband Brad are in their marriage and walk with the Lord.
3/01/01 Bebo Norman is set to release his latest project, Big Blue Sky, on May 15th. Since his debut, Bebo has sold more
than 125,000 units, garnered numerous accolades, and continues to reach audiences in both the college and folk
markets and beyond. Bebo joins Jennifer Knapp on the “Back Forty Tour” this March which hits more than 40 markets nationwide.
