1/29/6 On the heals of their sophomore release, Falling Up lands their first No. 1 radio single from Dawn Escape making it their fourth No. 1 rock single since their 2004 debut. “Moonlit” charted in the top spot this week on the R&R CHR Rock chart.

1/27/6 The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recently announced its year-end digital single and album certifications. In addition to Nothing Is Sound going Gold last fall, Switchfoot’s “Stars” was certified Gold as a digital single for surpassing 100,000 downloads. 1/26/6 Live at Long Hollow, the debut DVD from Christian music’s premier Big Band, Denver & The Mile High Orchestra, is slated for release February 7. Produced and directed by Russell Hall (John Tesh, The Crabb Family), the DVD was recorded at group founder and bandleader Denver Bierman’s home church, Long Hollow Baptist, in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
1/25/6 Gotee Records’ Grits celebrates the ten-year mark with the March 7th release of their seventh album simply titled 7. The 16-song release features 13 of the group’s breakthrough tracks, as well as three new songs plus the “Jay Mumbles- Mega Mix” as a special bonus track. The new album follows on the heels of 2004’s highly-acclaimed Dichotomy A and Dichotomy B releases. More at:Grits.

1/24/6 Frustrated by the lack of support and love from the gospel and secular community as well as the church, Tonex declared in a blog he published on MySpace.com on Sunday, January 22nd, that he is bowing out of the music industry. More at:Tonex.
Charlie Hall releases his much-anticipated sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records recording, Flying Into Daybreak, this week amidst critical acclaim. The modern worship album is the follow up to On the Road To Beautiful .

1/20/6 Word recording artist Building 429 polished off the final tracks of its March 14 release, Rise, at The Hideout in Franklin, Tenn. Rise, the band’s first project since its powerhouse debut, was produced by Monroe Jones and boasts additional contributions by Mac Powell of Third Day, who co-wrote “Because You Are Mine,” and Tait, as heard on “Empty.”
1/19/6 Singer/songwriter Anthony Evans is releasing his second solo project, Letting Go, March 7th on INO Records.

1/15/6 Superchic[k] is taking January off to enjoy a little personal time before heading out on the “This Is Your Anthem” tour with KJ-52, Seventh Day Slumber and Eleventy-7. Several shows have already sold out in advance of this highly anticipated line-up. A few of the band members will celebrate birthdays before they take off, including Dave Ghazarian and Melissa Brock. Melissa bought a little b-day present for herself– a vintage Vespa! She’s navigating it around her home in Nashville and enjoying the new ride. Her sister, Tricia, has been spending time at home in Indiana with her family and recently adopted an adorable Boston terrier. Both Matt Dally and Brandon Estelle have used the time off to work on new music. Matt donned his producer’s hat for the latest project by band Made Avail, and Max Hsu is mixing the project. The band will come together in two weeks to start rehearsals for the upcoming tour, which kicks off Jan. 27th in Cincinnati.
1/13/6 Dove Award nominee and acclaimed Praise & Worship artist Vicki Yohe will appear on the Trinity Broadcast Network’s “Praise the Lord” on Friday, January 13, 2006. Yohe will share the stage with the legendary Grammy Award-winning gospel group The Blind Boys of Alabama for the show taped at the TBN studios in Hendersonville, Tenn. New solo artist, and former member of the Dove Award winning group Avalon, Cherie Adams will also be performing on the program. The show will air today at 10 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. PST on the network’s national and international stations.
1/12/6 Last year proved to be a breakthrough experience for artist-worshiper, sixstepsrecords/Sparrow Records’ Chris Tomlin. Capping the year with his first RIAA Certified Gold sales award for his current, critically acclaimed studio album, Arriving, 2005 also brought Tomlin a series of firsts at radio, retail and on tour. Arriving immediately became a top-seller, debuting at No. 39 on the Billboard Top 200. The album hit is stride six months into its release when it re-entered the Billboard Top 200 and landed at No. 1 for the first time on SoundScan’s Top Christian Albums retail chart in March 2005. As momentum continued to build for Tomlin, he received his first GMA Music Award for Praise & Worship Album of the Year in April for Arriving, which was also voted best album in the 2005 Christian Retailing Retailers Choice Awards’ Music category in July. Additionally, the album landed among the top five “Best Inspirational Albums of 2005” at iTunes, was named a “best of ‘05” on Napster’s home page and marks the first Gold release for sixstepsrecords. 1/5/6 Award-winning singer/songwriter Jeremy Camp closed 2005 in gold. Camp’s first two releases with BEC Recordings, his debut Stay and the fan follow-up Carried Me: The Worship Project, have both been certified Gold, according to the RIAA/Recording Industry Association of America, shipping more than 500,000 units. His current release, Restored, is close to Gold certification, making Camp’s music and videos to ship well over 1,500,000 copies in less than three years.
1/3/6 Internationally renowned rock band Newsboys has launched the explosive first single, “I Am Free,” from its upcoming Inpop Records debut. National radio networks K-Love and Air 1 immediately added this special live version out of the box. The single will go for official adds on January 20th. The band added the up-tempo “I Am Free” to its live show last summer, and it quickly became a fan favorite.
More than 2,000 people packed the famed Dominion Theatre in central London to be part of the first television worship event by the internationally-acclaimed band, Delirious?. The concert was part of The Inspiration Networks’ worldwide “New Year’s Eve Celebration 2005” special that will air on The Inspiration Networks throughout the United States, the UK, and the entire pan-European region. This special also includes production in Greece and in The Inspiration Network’s studios in Charlotte, North Carolina.
1/2/6 Dottie Peoples has signed with Marvelous Entertainment and will tour with their original gospel play, What Men Don’t Tell written by Laterras R. Whitfield from February through May 2006.
