Artist Update: August

Jeff Deyo just played last month at Saddleback’s worship conference with 1,500 worship leaders from
all over the country (in California). He then played for the 16,000 people who attend their church
weekly. The pastor (Rick Warren) of this 2nd largest church in America asked Jeff to write a song
for the CD that is coming out along with his new book “The Purpose Driven Life” which has
740,000 preorders already!
8/26/02 Essential Records’ pop quartet True Vibe launches its sophomore release See The Light with nine consecutive days of promotional events in major Christian music markets including Chicago, Dallas and Seattle. Among the week’s activities are an appearance on Chicago-based television network WGN’s morning show, post-game performances at multiple minor league baseball games, and retail/radio supported concerts.
The Elms recently completed a string of tour dates with legendary guitarist Peter Frampton. Performing
for as many as 3,500 fans a night, The Elms showcased music from their new album Truth, Soul, Rock & Roll to be released on October 22nd. In addition to their tour with Frampton, The Elms will be hitting the road this fall with Jars of Clay for the “eleventhhourtour”. “Going out with Jars
will be a great way to spend the fall,” shared Owen Thomas, lead singer of The Elms. “We love how they’ve made their music the priority, and have
written so many songs that cause people to consider truth as a way of life. It’s going to be a great time.”
8/23/02 Amy Grant gears up for a busy fall promoting her Legacy album release
with nationwide tour with labelmate FERNANDO ORTEGA. A complete itinerary

with SALVADOR and 38th Parallel on CBS’ Sunday Morning show this weekend,
August 25th at 8am cst. Also be on the lookout for the ABC 20/20 special
with husband Vince Gill to air sometime this November.
Atlantic Records’ own Plus One sings the sounds of Christmas on their upcoming Christmas release – due out October 15th. The guys will be on the
Pure Pop tour (www.pure-pop.com) starting in
October.

8/19/02 Randy Stonehill’s new recording, “Edge Of The World,” releases October 22
on Fair Oaks Records. It features duets with Sara Groves and Phil Keaggy
and an all-star vocal line-up of Phil Keaggy, Russ Taff, Noel Paul
Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary), Larry Norman, Barry McGuire and Annie
Herring on a nostalgic number Randy wrote about the Jesus Music explosion of the 70’s. Phil Madeira’s instrumentals are also featured on several songs.
Worship Extreme recording artist Among Thorns, originally formed as the
house band for the Metro Bible Study in Houston, will release its
third project, “Draw Near,” on September 10. The modern pop album which
follows the group’s two previous releases, a self-titled debut in 1999
and “Desperate” in April 2001, showcases new lead singer Chad Jarnagin.
8/14/02 This has been one of the most difficult weeks in the History of ApologetiX Music Ministry. In the past 48 hours the drummer’s mother, and
the serious accident of the lead singer’s wife have caused several upcoming concerts to be canceled. If you were planning to sttend an ApologetiX concert, please call first to make sure it is still scheduled.
8/9/02 Congratulations goes out to Point of Grace member Terry Jones, who delivered her third child, a girl, on August 7. The baby’s name is Mallory Louise Jones. Point of Grace members Shelley Breen and Heather Payne are also both expecting, both due in September.
8/7/02 With the August 20 release of its debut album right around the corner, Daily Planet claims the No. 1 position on R&R’s Christian CHR chart with its debut single,”Flying Blind.” With a No. 1 song under its belt, Daily Planet now prepares its two-week promotional tour in key cities such as Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Orlando, Fla., among others.
Critically acclaimed rock band 38th Parallel will be featured this fall on the ShoutFest
Tour with other top-selling acts Rachael Lampa, Salvador and Daily Planet, among others. The new Squint band will perform before thousands of fans in key cities throughout the US beginning September 12 and running through November 17.
New Sparrow Records artist Aaron Spiro is a featured performer on the multi-act

8/6/02 David Crowder Band, Sparrow/sixstepsrecords’ biggest selling debut artist ever, recently
met former presidential candidate and Senator Bob Dole in the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport. The senator was on his way to
a speech in Palm Springs, CA, while the band was headed to the CBA Convention in Anaheim, CA.
“We told him that we all voted for him,” says Toni Crowder, David Crowder Band tour manager, regarding Dole’s last

8/05/02 Cross Driven Records Celt/pop/rock band Ceili Rain is set to release
their highly anticipated new album, No You-No Me, on September 17. This
will be the group’s third release since 1997.
8/2/02 Michael W. Smith will perform at The Bicentennial Mall Amphitheater on Monday,
August 5. This free one
hour concert will begin promptly at noon.

Reunion Records artist NewSong recently returned from the set of the holiday movie “The Christmas Shoes,” to be aired on the CBS Television Network this upcoming holiday season. Shooting outdoor night scenes complete with snow, members of NewSong finished filming their cameo appearances in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
