Are the relatives starting to pile up at your doorstep? Has your “to-do-list” turned into a “to-do-book”? Your stress and anxiety level hit an all time holiday high? It is usually about this time that the intricate plans you made weeks ago are starting to get dismantled by last minute changes. Your normal schedule is out the window along with your personal time with God, the one relationship that fuels you and gets you through each new day!
Satan’s greatest desire for Christians during the holidays is to distract, keep us on edge and distance us from Christ! What better way to assure that we are personally miserable and ineffective witnesses. If the enemy can stifle our influence on our unsaved family and friends, he has succeeded! Here is some great scripture to pray over your life right now.
Colos. 3:23
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men”
Colos. 4:4-5
Be wise in the way you act towards outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.
I Thes. 5:16-18
Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Remember this when the ungrateful or unkind comments are thrown your way. You are not running around and doing things for them, but for the Lord. Because all that you do should be for the Lord. Even if it is entertaining relatives, friends or being somewhere you do not want to be. God probably has you there for a reason! Remember this when your situation gets stressful, that will give you something to smile about. God has dispatched you on a special mission for the Kingdom! Draw on His strength and He will get you through!
Focus on this scripture and rely on God to give you the strength to make it through. Couple that with the ability to have an effective witness. Remember, that doesn’t mean in-your-face evangelism, but a life that reflects Christ in speech and in actions! A life that is consistent will speak volumes!
Don’t let Satan steal your joy this holiday! Keep your focus on Christ and draw all your strength from Him and you’ll have a wonderful celebration!
Prob. 16:3
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
