Lionsgate and Cowgirl Up Entertainment released the heartwarming Christmas movie “Angels Sing” with Harry Connick Jr., Willie Nelson, Connie Britton, and Kris Kristofferson to Blu-ray and DVD nationwide this past week, Dec. 10, 2013.

Available to consumers just in time for the holidays, the film premiered in theaters and on demand earlier this month and launched at SXSW with sold out screenings at the Heartland Film Festival. “Angels Sing” is a proud supporter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®). “Thank you Lionsgate and Cowgirl Up Entertainment and all the celebrities in the movie for helping us generate awareness and funds for RMHC,” said J.C. Gonzalez-Mendez, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities. “With your support, this holiday season, we are able to give hospitalized children the best gift of all – their families – and with it, the strength to heal.”
Recently judged “Family-Approved” for all ages by the prestigious International Dove Foundation, the film received rave reviews and is currently featured on the foundation’s website (www.dove.org).
“Angels Sing” has made donations and sponsored screenings and events to benefit local RMHC Chapters and their family-centered programs across the U.S.A, from Chatonooga TN, to New York City, Fargo ND, Bend Oregon, Norfolk VA, to Los Angeles CA. A limited number of Angels Sing posters signed by either Harry Connick Jr., Willie Nelson, or Connie Britton have been made available for auction as well. RMHC of Austin and Central Texas Red Carpet event was attended by Willie Nelson, Eloise and John Paul DeJoria, Turk Pipkin, Elizabeth Avellan and the financier of the marketing for “Angels Sing” and all RMHC donations, J. David Williams of Filmcrest Entertainment.
“I can think of no better way to spend a holiday evening with my family then to watch this wonderful uplifting Christmas movie and know that we are benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities at the same time,” said Executive Producer, J. David Williams.
“Angels Sing” tells the story of Michael Walker (Harry Connick, Jr. – Dolphin Tale) who wished every day could be Christmas…that is until a tragic accident crushed his holiday spirit. Thirty years later, Michael still can’t muster any joy for the holidays, despite encouragement from his playful wife (Connie Britton – Nashville, Friday Night Lights) and well-intentioned parents (Kris Kristofferson and Fionnula Flanagan). But when his young son (Chandler Canterbury) faces a tragedy, Michael needs to make amends with his past. A mysterious man named Nick (Willie Nelson) gives Michael a gift and instills in him the courage to find the joy that he lost.
Elizabeth Avellán, Fred Miller, and Shannon McIntosh produced the movie, based on Turk Pipkin’s classic Christmas novel “When Angels Sing.” Tim McCanlies (Secondhand Lions) directed Lou Berney’s screenplay; Dominic Cancilla and Turk Pipkin (author of the book “When Angels Sing”) co-produced the film. Mary Dickinson, Charlene Fisher, Scott Rankin, Sharon Rankin, and Randall Dark are executive producers.
Turk Pipkin, author of the book, “When Angels Sing” who also appears in the film said: “We are so honored to be giving back this holiday season and share this wonderful story with audiences while also being able to share the gift of hope and joy with families served by RMHC.”
