Just after fleeing to Memphis before the fury of Hurricane
Katrina, last Friday night New Orleans native Aaron Neville took the stage
in the first celebrity concert on NBC A Benefit for Hurricane Relief.
Performing with Faith Hill, Tim McGraw and Harry Connick Jr.among others.
“They’re trying to wash us away, they’re trying to wash us away.” That
night, Neville sang his rendition of Randy Newman’s heartfelt “Louisiana
1927 ” as America opened their hearts, donating to a city of ruin.
Continuing to help rebuild New Orleans & Mississippi, Neville & EMI Gospel
are donating sixty cents from every Christmas Prayer CD (in stores October
4, 2005) sold to the American Red Cross until December 31, 2006. For more

hurricane relief.
Neville’s participation in the relief effort doesn’t stop there, last night on
BET Neville takes the stage with some of the hottest stars in music, Saving
Our Selves (S.O.S.) a benefit for Hurricane survivors hosted by Steve Harvey
and Queen Latifah airing at 7:30 pm CST. In addition to performing on MTV’s
React Now Music Relief concert airing August 10th at 8 pm CST.
