A Woman’s Freedom to Choose
As Pastor of the church, I wish to reaffirm the belief of God’s people that
every woman has a right of choice concerning the issues of her body. That
right of choice does not extend to the life and body of others. Regarding her
sexual life, the woman’s choice is made at the point of intercourse. That
would include a woman’s choice of contraception prior to conception. Abortion
is the taking of another life and the violating of another baby. Life begins
at conception. We do not recognize that a woman has the right to take a life
just because that other life is within her womb.
Abortion must be recognized as it is – the termination of a life. Medical
personnel love to talk about the termination of a pregnancy and to use
medical terms for a baby, such as fetus – but we are talking about a life and
a living soul. Those who practice abortion for any purpose other than to save
life must live forever with the knowledge that they have willfully taken
life. We renounce all practice by politicians to mask this evil practice
under the terminology of a woman’s right to choose.
Our prayers are for the repentance of the republic and the renewal of moral
values. This ethic goes beyond Christianity and the roots itself in the God
of Israel. We as Christians can do no less that to reject all forms of
inhumanity, especially to those who are the most vulnerable, the elderly and
the unborn.
